Pickleball in Iron Mountain, Michigan

Iron Mountain has an established outdoor pickleball hub at Stanton Street Park, where four dedicated public courts anchor local play during the warmer months. Dickinson Area Pickleball helps organize players there, and Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Schools continues to use the courts for youth instruction. Indoor community pickleball has also been offered through the school system during colder weather, though the current indoor schedule is less clearly published.

  This is Iron Mountain's main outdoor pickleball facility. The four public courts were built specifically for pickleball and opened in 2019. The courts sit in the Stanton Street park area with a pavilion and playground nearby. Court hours are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. East Elementary School has also been used for indoor pickleball during cold weather months. The school system has historically scheduled skill-based community sessions there, though a current 2026-27 indoor schedule has not yet been published clearly enough to treat it as dependable year-round drop-in play.

Beginner Pickleball in Iron Mountain

For younger beginners, Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Schools runs a summer pickleball camp at the Stanton Street courts with instruction from Dickinson Area Pickleball members. The 2026 program is for grades 3 through 8 and teaches basic skills, rules, and game play with equipment provided. See the 2026 summer pickleball program.

Adult beginners should start with Dickinson Area Pickleball's organized community play at Stanton Street rather than simply arriving at an empty court. Players looking for individual instruction can also use the Coaches section.

Open Play and Organized Pickleball

Stanton Street is more than a set of public courts. Dickinson Area Pickleball coordinates local players there and has used skill-based playing blocks, including separate advanced, intermediate, and all-level sessions. The group also supports local instruction and community programs.

The Iron Mountain-Kingsford Community Schools summer pickleball camp returns to Stanton Street in July 2026. Sessions are scheduled July 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM for students in grades 3 through 8. See program and registration details.

Visiting Iron Mountain and Looking for a Game?

If you are visiting Iron Mountain alone during outdoor season, start at the Stanton Street Pickleball Courts. They are the center of the local pickleball community and the location most associated with organized local play. Arriving during an established group session gives you a much better chance of joining a game than choosing an ordinary recreation court elsewhere in town.

If you already have partners, Stanton Street is also the straightforward public option for arranging your own game. The four dedicated courts are at 830 Stanton Street and may be used between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
